John Taylor, Airport Manager, said "We are looking to provide our corporate business customers better access to weather and related services on the Internet. Providing free access is more approprate for our users who may only require a few minutes to check weather or email."
Providing WiFi access allows the crew the flexibility of using their own laptop based weather and flight planning software. Brandywine's WiFi coverage extends acrost most of the airport, allowing in-aircraft Internet access for transient business aicraft.
Brandwine is the first known non-aircarrier served airport to provide airport-wide free WiFi service beginning August 2004. Airports providing WiFi service to date are generally served by air-carriers and charge a connection fee. Kentucky Bluegrass airport was the first airport to offer free WiFi service starting Nov 2001.
Brandywine airport is a pilot-owned airport in West Chester, PA providing corporate business aircraft fast access to Philadelphia suburbs.
